Registry-style ceremonies by civil celebrants, not a government registry office. No fuss, no frills, no wedding. Just paperwork.

Can I Get Married Online?

No, the marriage itself cannot happen online in Australia. Learn what can be done remotely and what still has to happen in person.

Perth Marriage Office is a private celebrant service for low-cost, paperwork-only marriages in Perth. Ready to get started? Click Get Married. Need help with your Notice of Intended Marriage? Use NOIM Easy.

No. You cannot complete the marriage itself online in Australia.

What Has to Happen in Person

The marriage must happen in person.

That means:

  • both parties must be there
  • the celebrant must be there
  • two witnesses must be there

Before the marriage, the celebrant must also meet each party separately in person.

What Can Be Done Remotely

A lot of the preparation can still be done remotely:

  • complete the booking form
  • prepare the NOIM using NOIM Easy
  • email through scanned documents for checking
  • ask questions by email

In some cases, the witnessing of NOIM signatures can also be done by audio-visual communication where the law allows.

The Simple Version

You can do a lot of the paperwork before the appointment, but the actual marriage still has to happen in person.
